The Guys With Rides Team is particularly fond of mid-engine roadsters and the third generation Toyota MR2 is no exception. The complete lack of luggage space that limits practicality must be offset by the top-down fun on the cheap this car offers.
This example features the 1.8L, four-valves-per-cylinder, inline-four producing 138 bhp at 6,400 rpm and 126 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. While those numbers sound meager, the low 2,195 pound curb weight allows this MR2 to go from 0-60 mph in under seven seconds. Mated to this example is a five-speed manual transmission.
The private seller states that this nearly 135K white over grey cloth is in “great mechanical shape with some normal wear and tear on the exterior and interior.” The only things the seller mentions are that the top needs to be replaced and the parking brake needs adjustment to be functional. The seller has a newborn and rightfully so, this MR2 is no longer practical for them to own.
Besides being in need of good detailing, the interior presents well other than some wear on the driver’s side seat cushion.
The front headlamps are in desperate need of polish as they really detract from the rest of the car.
The seller states the top cannot be lowered as it needs to be replaced. The picture below shows the patchwork on the existing top behind the driver’s door.
