For #SportsCarSaturday we’re featuring this 2002 Rain Forest Green Metallic Porsche Boxster with only 43K miles. Found for sale on Autotrader.com by the private seller who is asking $13,500.

The original 986 Porsche Boxster launched in the model year 1997 and remained in production through 2005 when the mildly updated 987 version arrived. The Guys With Rides crew is very fond of this generation of Boxster as the sound of the flat-six at your back combined with the extremely well-balanced handling and the practicality of two decent-sized trunks make these the perfect weekend getaway car.

The seller states that his Boxster is in excellent condition with only 43K original miles. This example features an upgraded factory IMS bearing for added peace of mind as well as a brand new set of Pirelli Zero Rosso tires with only 200 miles of travel. The seller mentions this Boxster comes with a car cover and that the car is always garage kept; Given the stunning condition of the paint and interior leather, we have no reason to doubt that. While the seller doesn’t mention it, the Grey interior appears to be the optional full leather which was a nice upgrade at the time. You’ll need to confirm that with the small options label located on the underside of the “frunk” lid.

The seller adds that he replaced the factory stereo with a top-of-the-line Alpine stereo featuring Bluetooth and, judging by the antenna on the middle of the boot, satellite radio. Our personal preference would be to move the antenna from the boot to the dashboard for a cleaner exterior look. The seller does not mention whether the original factory radio is included with the sale however the inclusion of two service manuals is a bonus.

While the seller states that every feature works and the car is in excellent condition, he admits there are two small blemishes that can, in his words, be easily addressed. One is a door ding on the driver’s side, the other is a small upholstery tear on the driver’s door. Unfortunately, the eight pictures currently featured do not show these in detail, so you’ll have to contact the seller directly to get shots of those.

Overall, this looks like a very nice example that, based on the Hagerty Insurance online valuation tool, the seller has fairly priced between the #3 “Good” and #2 “Excellent condition values. Good luck with the purchase!
