Want one of your own? Steve Saffier, host of the CarSmarts Radio Program alerted us about the Blue, 57K original mile 1980 short bed 4×4 example currently listed by the private seller near Pittsburgh, PA for $16,000 on the radio show’s “Marketplace” website page. Based on our analysis of similar examples selling on eBay and other auctions click here to see to learn why we feel $13,000 is a very respectable offer for this cool truck.

The private seller states that his truck is originally from the eastern side of Washington state and consequently that area’s dry climate is a prime reason there is zero rust. The truck features its original paint and we only note there are several areas around the driver’s side fender and door indicating paint touch-ups.

Pictures of this truck’s undercarriage and bed confirm the lack of rust and only 57K miles traveled. The polished aluminum tool storage unit is included with the sale. The seller notes that the spare tire stored underneath the bed is original to the truck. The only downside to manual locking hubs is making sure you engage them before the zombies get in close range!

The blue and white cloth bench seat presents well with no tears. The dashboard, door cards, and carpets are also in very good condition with no cracks evident. The private seller states this example is well-optioned with power steering, a sport steering wheel, and gauge package. Air conditioning is not equipped on this truck, but that’s what the manual roll down windows are for: simplicity at its finest!

The original 2.2 liter “20R” four cylinder appears to be ready to take on another 400K-500K miles of use with nothing more than regular maintenance.

All in all, this is a great truck that’s ready to take on anything you can dish out for years to come. We love the owners to date kept this example completely stock and we’re hopeful the next caretaker does as well. Good luck with the purchase!
