We’re Heading to Spring Carlisle 2019 on Thursday and Saturday, so we’ll be providing content from both the Auction and the Car Corral!
Looking through the consignment list for this week’s auctions, we came across Lot Number F448, a 1977 Wedgewood Blue Plymouth Fury Station Wagon Time Capsule with only 14,773 original miles that overall presents as new. This one-owner car was purchased from the original owner’s family by the consignor. Not only is this a low mileage survivor, the original owner had his wagon Ziebarted when new! The NADA Classic, Collectible, Exotic, and Muscle Car Appraisal Guide lists the high average value for these cars at $7,075. Ironically, we found another ad for this car currently posted by the consignor, who has this car priced aggressively at $16,900. We will be keeping an eye on this one come Friday and will update you on where it lands.
As all of the exterior pictures illustrate, this wagon is in like-new condition on the outside with no scratches or dents visible. All of the chrome and trim present as new.
Similarly, the interior presents as new with no flaws visible in the pictures. The driver’s side vinyl mat embedded in the carpet shows water stains, however a good scrub followed by an application of Adam’s VLR or similar product will have that also looking like new.
The only thing preventing this Fury from being shown in concours events currently is the engine bay as the consignor elected to keep the engine compartment housing a 360 cubic inch V8 as he found it. A weekend spent carefully detailing the engine bay will bring the engine compartment up to the same level as the rest of the car. The whitewalls shown are actually the “porta” style that can be easily removed as we don;t find these to be period correct.
Overall, this Plymouth Fury Wagon time capsule will make a great addition to the garage of any Malaise era or Station Wagon collector. Good luck with the purchase!
