We came across this rare 1968 Mercedes 250SL here on Craigslist located in Branford, Connecticut where the private seller is asking $37,000. Interestingly, he has his car priced exactly at the #4 “Fair” condition-level shown on the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool for a 280SL from the same year.
We have a very rare find here, as the 250SL commenced production in December 1966 and ended in January 1968, thus the short one-year production run makes 250 SLs like this one the rarest of the W113 series cars.
We’re really intrigued by this example and believe if it checks out during an in-person inspection, the new caretaker will have a real find on his hands with a lot of upside. According to the seller it only has 24K original miles and comes with both the soft top and the “Pagoda” style hard top. With a limited description saying only, “runs great needs minor body/paint interior in decent shape.” this is one we would definitely try to learn more about! Good luck with the purchase!
