We came across this rare 1993 Red-over-black leather Jaguar XJS 5-speed on Craigslist in Stowe, Vermont where the Jaguar enthusiast seller is currently asking $15,000. Based on the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool, the seller has his Jag priced $1,200 higher than the #3 “Good” condition level.
While a very pretty example of a Series III XJS, we’re disappointed the seller neglected to provide any interior pictures and at least one of the engine and the opened boot. We recommend you reach out to the seller for more pictures as well as scheduling an in-person inspection. Based on the description below, the seller seems very knowledgeable about Jags, and think this one is definitely something you should look at in more detail. Good luck with the purchase!
“This is a very clean all-original 1993 Jaguar XJS convertible equipped with the very rare factory installed 5 speed manual transmission. Only 66 Jaguar dealer special-order 5-speed XJS convertibles were manufactured for the North American market, and this is one of them. How many of them remain in existence is a good question.
Most of the cars, including this example, were fitted with the factory Sport Package, which included 16″ alloy wheels, sport suspension, a great sounding free-flow dual exhaust system, and a rear spoiler.
This particular classic British roadster is red with a black leather interior. It is equipped with a very reliable 4.0L straight-six engine. It has low miles for the year and is in excellent overall condition. The bodywork is also excellent and very straight, and there is no rust or accident damage anywhere on the car. The interior is also in excellent condition and the convertible top which was recently replaced is as-new.”
