October 6th Update:  while preparing for Sleeper Sunday, we see the pretty 1946 Plymouth Special Deluxe Two Door Sedan we featured at the end of June is still for sale.  The owner has a fresh Craigslist post we’ve updated the link to below and the new price is now $12,000.  Good luck with the purchase!

This 1946 Plymouth Special Deluxe Two Door Sedan 40,310 mile time capsule can be found here on Craigslist in Norristown, Pennsylvania where the private seller has it listed for $13,000. The NADA Classic, Collectible, Exotic, and Muscle Car Appraisal Guide currently lists the high average at $13,200, so the seller’s expectations are in line with the market.  The seller reports his car was “was garage-stored in Texas and there is no rust anywhere. It has a new gas tank and fuel line, new brake lines and rotors, new Coker white-wall tires with about 300 miles of use, and many more new parts.”

We’re curious to learn the history of this example as 1946 was the first year of car production following the end of World War II.  Americans were clamoring for new cars at the time and manufacturers could not keep up with the pent up demand.  Consequently, we find it interesting this example ended up being a such a great time capsule.  Good luck with the purchase!
