October 7th Update: we noticed while preparing for Malaise Monday the original owner of this 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport we first featured in early July now has a fresh Craigslist post in which he’s lowered his $12,000 Firm to $11,000. We’ve updated the Craigslist link below. Good luck with the purchase!
Finding this 1972 Ford Grand Torino Sport for sale here on Craigslist in Annapolis, Maryland by the original owner reminded us of Clint Eastwood’s movie of the same name, although this example wears a lighter shade of green. The Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool currently lists a #2 “Excellent” value of $12,300, so we think the original owner may be expecting a bit too much when there are clearly seam tears in the front seat, in his words, “minimal rust”, and the engine compartment is in need of a weekend’s worth of detailing.
Ford introduced the redesigned third generation Torino for the 1972 model year. The 1972 Torino styling continued to emphasize the long hood, short deck design language that incorporated “coke bottle styling along its flanks. The biggest change for the Torino was the switch from a unit body of the prior models to body-on-frame construction. The new chassis utilized a perimeter layout designed to give the Torino a quieter and more isolated ride.
The original owner states his Torino is “all stock, in good running condition, and garage kept” that features the original 351 cubic inch Cleveland V8 topped with the standard two barrel carburetor. The original Ford factory shop manuals are included with the sale along with spare parts.
We’re hopeful the original owner can find the next caretaker who will keep his car stock and perhaps do a bit of work to bring it back to “like new” condition while they enjoy driving it. Good luck with the purchase!
