While touring the western side of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes region of Central New York State, we came across to see this pretty red over tan leather 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce for sale in front of a home that borders the lake. No price was listed, so we reached out to the phone number on the “For Sale” sign to see if we can learn more about this Alfa. We currently assume the area code for the phone number listed on the car is 607. The NADA Classic, Collectible, Exotic, and Muscle Car Appraisal Guide lists the “Low”, “Average”, and “High” values for these Alfas at $9,150, $15,800, and $20,400, respectively so we’ll be curious to learn what the private seller is asking for his spider.
Originally launched in 1966, the 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce presented here is the first year of the Series 4 model that featured power steering, larger knee bolsters and a driver-side airbag. Alfa offered a base Spider and a higher optioned Veloce model such as this car. The Veloce gained leather seats, 15″ alloy wheels, air conditioning, and a cloth top.
We were very impressed with the quality of the paint that appears original, the tan convertible top and plastic rear window are in great shape, and the tan leather interior appeared through the glass to be in excellent condition with no signs of either fading or cracking. Also noted are the service manuals presented in the car’s driver’s seat. About the only thing we could tell needing immediate cosmetic attention are the finish of the aluminum wheels as each one has some sort of minor road rash to address.
We’ll add more information about the car as soon as we hear back from the seller, but if you’re genuinely interested you should reach out directly to him. This is the second last year of the Alfa Spider Veloce and we like the look of the better integrated front air dam and the removal of the black urethan boot spoiler of the prior model combined with the higher luxury content versus earlier versions. Good luck with the purchase!
