We will be on hand Wednesday, July 31st at Mecum Harrisburg to watch Lot W203, what appears to be a mildly customized 1969 Volkswagen Type III Squareback, cross the auction block. The NADA Classic, Collectible, Exotic, and Muscle Car Appraisal Guide currently lists the “Low”, “Average”, and “High” values for ’69 Type III Squarebacks at $12,450, $21,600, and $36,400, respectively so we will be very curious where on this range the hammer will fall.
We love the light blue paint and the nice silver custom five-spoke wheels of the exterior combined with the custom blue and white interior that features new carpet and headliner. With a 1700cc, dual Weber carburetor engine providing power, this example will be significantly quicker than when it was new. The pictures provided on the docket are very grainy, so we plan to provide a detailed report of what flaws this car may have that you can only see in person as well as where the hammer falls for this VW. Stay Tuned!
