August 1st Update:  We were amazed to see it in person when this Pinto crossed the block for $10,000!

We will be on hand to watch Lot W115, this 43,750 mile, Brown over Tan Houndstooth, 1974 Ford Pinto Station Wagon cross the block at Mecum Harrisburg Wednesday, July 31st.  While the NADA Classic, Collectible, Exotic, and Muscle Car Appraisal Guide currently lists the “Low”, “Average”, and “High” values for ’74 two door wagons at $2,275, $3,100, and $4,700, respectively we still remember this 1978 Pinto selling for a staggering $33,000 last August at Mecum Monterey.

In addition to the nice period correct color combination, this Pinto is equipped with factory air conditioning.  Make no mistake, with an emissions-equipment choked 2.3L inline four connected to a three-speed automatic transmission these Pintos are wicked slow by any measure and unfortunately this ’74 example wears the ugly and heavier safety bumpers. That said, the two-door “Shooting Brake” style wagon body has come into its own and really love the upscale interior of this example.  We plan to provide a detailed report of what flaws this car may have that you can only see in person as well as where the hammer falls for this Pinto. Stay Tuned!
