When we saw this 1997 Silverado 1500 4X4 5.7L 5-speed short-bed pickup listed on Craigslist in August 2019 in Meshoppen, Pennsylvania it just served to point out to us how simple and smaller trucks used to be.  The private seller is currently asking $12,000 and while his truck is a rare 5-speed, rust-free, and very clean Z71 we’re struggling to understand his justification for that price when the Kelly Blue Book Private Party value is only $3,479 and the NADA Classic, Collectible, Exotic, and Muscle Car Appraisal Guide “Low”, “Average”, and “High” value range is $2,425, $4,750, and $7,700, respectively.  Maybe the seller agrees with us that you simply can no longer buy a truck like this without having to special order it.  Regardless, we’re giving this truck our latest “NEW!” (short for No Effin Way!) Award.

Not only do we like the fact that truck has biggest engine mated to a floor-shifted 5-speed, we can’t get over how clean and unmolested this example is, especially with 110.3K miles on the clock.  Take a look at the extensive undercarriage shots provided:

The cloth and well-optioned interior appears to be just as nice as seats do not show any signs of wear based on the pictures provided.

The seller’s brief description does not provide any maintenance history other than noting a clutch replacement just 1,000 miles ago.  Its no secret we’re not fans of today’s huge trucks, so this example makes a compelling argument for bucking the trend while being able to park it your garage.  Good luck with the purchase!
