Posted just in time for this week’s Truckin Tuesday feature is this 1983 Chevrolet S-10 you can find here on Craigslist in Boontown, New Jersey where the private seller has it currently priced at $6,500.  As a proxy, the NADA Classic, Collectible, Exotic, and Muscle Car Appraisal Guide currently lists their “Low”, “Average”, and “High” value range for similar stock S10s at $1,225, $2,400, and $3,025, so the premium here is for the converted engine bay and a narrowed chassis that’s ready to accept your V8 powertrain.

The pictures and description are very limited about this truck, however what we do now is that according the seller the red paint is “real nice” and that everything is here except a motor.  The S10’s chassis has been set up to accept a small block Chevy V8 you can bolt up to the existing headers mated to a dual exhaust system as well as a TurboHydramatic automatic equipped with a 3000 RPM stall speed torque converter. Handling the power out back is a narrowed Ford nine inch rear end equipped with stout 4:88 gears.  The seller also mentions the wheels and tires are new.

While the current 4:88 rear end gears won’t have you cruising anything other than level quarter-mile segments of pavement, with fall just around the corner, if you’re looking to a winter project you can easily finish in time for next year’s drag racing season, this S10 makes a compelling alternative.  Good luck with the purchase!
