November 2020 Update – We’re busy updating our database to accurately reflect the status of every car we’ve featured since starting  This Chrysler New Yorker we first featured in September 2019 has since sold. This one may have got away, but if you have your heart set on something similar, email us the details of what you’re looking for or call Rudy directly at (908)295-7330.

September 23 Update:  When we first featured this New Yorker on June 16th, the private seller wanted $3,900 and was trying to sell his car using pictures from last winter.  While he’s still trying to use the dated winter pictures, the private seller has now reduced his price to $3,300 or best offer.  We’ve updated the link below.  Good luck with the purchase!

Helping us celebrate the height of the Malaise era is this 1978 Chrysler New Yorker we found on Craigslist in September 2019 in Masbeth, New York where the private seller has it listed for $3,900 or best offer.  The NADA Classic, Collectible, Exotic, and Muscle Car Appraisal Guide currently lists the “Low”, “Average”, and “High” values of this car at $850, $1,900, and $2,725, respectively.  Given these guidelines and the fact one of the pictures posted still shows snow on it, we believe the private seller has been offering his New Yorker for a while now and therefore you will have room for negotiation.

The seller provides a brief description of his car that says it was originally from Texas, so it’s a solid driver quality example with 76K miles on it.  He also states that the 400 cubic inch V8’s “Lean Burn” system has been disconnected and with a new carburetor fitted, the engine should be much more reliable than when new.

They just don’t make comfortable land yachts like this anymore, and this is a great way to get into the collector car hobby without a lot of money.  Good luck with the purchase!
