Posted earlier this week here on Craigslist in North Tonawanda, New York is this 26K original mile, two owner, 1966 Chevrolet Impala Four Door Sedan the current caretaker is asking $13,500 for currently. Using the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool as a guide we find the private seller has their Impala time capsule priced between the #1 “Concours” benchmark of $15,600 and the #2 “Excellent” estimate of $10,000. We think that’s a bit rich as while the car has low miles, it has visible flaws in the pictures that, combined with the changes noted below, likely make this sedan worth closer to the #3 “Good” level of $7,600. Time will tell.
Here’s the current caretaker’s description:
“1966 Chevy Impala. 283 cubic inch V8 2bbl, 2 speed power-glide transmission, bias ply tires. Power steering, manual brakes. My niece was only the 2nd person to ever register this car. Crazy low miles, In 4 years she only put a couple thousand additional miles on it. Still has the instruction tag hanging on the emergency flashers. The only things we changed when we got it was to install electronic ignition, tune up, rebuild the carb, and installed a “classic auto” radio direct install, with modern features and classic look. We still have all the original components that were removed. There are normal dings and scratches. The rear bumper is dented and there is some rust spots on the bottom of the panels and seams in the trunk. Interior has a couple of splits in the fabric.”
While the convertibles and fastback hardtops usually steal the show for these popular mid-sixties full-size Chevys, here’s a more pedestrian example you can enjoy just as much either driving around running errands or to your favorite car show. Either way, good luck with the purchase!
