October 14th Update: After inspecting this Eldorado in person this morning, WE BOUGHT IT!  While in need of new bumper fillers and few days worth of detailing, the red leather interior is like new and the car drives like a new mid-80s full-size car.  Compared to modern cars, there is no power but the ride is velvety smooth.  The original post only included four pictures, so we’ve added the ones we took this morning.  Stay tuned as we take you through us getting this E-Body Eldo cleaned-up for a car show this coming Saturday.

Still listed for sale in nearby Basking Ridge, New Jersey here on Craigslist is this 40K original mile 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz two door coupe the private seller is currently asking $5,000 for, which looking at the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool for a base coupe shows this example is priced between the #3 “Good” level of $5,600 and the #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $2,600.  Similarly, the NADA Guides Online Tool states their “Low”, “Average”, and “High” retail range for this car is currently $4,900, $7,825, and $12,550, respectively.

In response to increasing Federal Government Corporate Average Fuel Economy (“CAFE”) standards, for 1979 GM launched downsized versions of its body-on-frame, front wheel drive E-Body personal luxury trio: The Buick Rivera, Cadillac Eldorado, and Oldsmobile Toronado.  Despite being nearly two feet shorter and a whopping 1,000 pounds lighter, the new cars boasted more interior room and trunk space than the land yachts they replaced.  The revised chassis now featured an independent rear suspension and four wheel disc brakes.  The Eldorado Biarritz added a number of luxury touches, the most distinctive of which is the brushed stainless steel roof panel.

Unfortunately, the limited pictures come with an equally minimal description for this Cadillac Eldorado 2-door coupe other than to describe the color and that this example only has 40K original miles.  Unfortunately, no interior pictures are provided however we expect it to be lightly worn given the very low mileage.  The most pressing flaw is the rear bumper fillers are completely shot, so those will need to be addressed immediately after the sale.  Candidly, this example piques our interest, so we are meeting with this seller this morning.  If we determine this Eldorado only needs a fillers replaced and a good detail, this car may become the new Guys With Rides mascot. Stay tuned and wish us luck with the purchase!
