The caretaker for the past 30 years of this 1970 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible he posted on Craigslistfor $500 in Allentown, Pennsylvania likely decided after all this time he will likely not get to work on this project. Let’s hope other projects and not life prevents him from tackling this one.
Obviously, in need of complete restoration, we agree with the private seller’s assessment that his Bug has “great potential for becoming a Rat Rod, beach buggy, Cal-Look, custom or full restoration for the ambitious VW Enthusiast.” We’ll even add one to the mix: rather than rebuild the air-cooled flat-four, we’d seriously consider converting this Beetle to electric power with either a kit readily available from EVWest or wait for Volkswagen to make their recently announced eClassics conversion kit available in the U.S. While the distinctive flat-four sound will be lost, the trade-off is performance the original car could never dream of!
The seller reports additional parts not pictured include the Convertible Top Frame and all Glass except the front windshield.
