November 4th Update: when we tried to call the number provided in the Craigslist ad, we reached an Estate Sale Company who likely handled the auction for the original owner. We left a message but never received a reply. On Wednesday, a loyal Guys With Rides Follower informed us via our Facebook page the winning bid was $13,000, so the next care taker likely bought this Lincoln with some potential upside. Good luck with the purchase!
In a unique post, the original owner of this 28K mile, Lipstick and White Edition, 1976 Lincoln Mark IV previewed his car on Craigslist announcing it would be sold on October 27 at Noon to the highest bidder in person at his home in Port Jefferson Station, New York on Sunday, October 27th. Viewing will start at 11am and at Noon people can start providing offers: highest one wins. If you are interesting in getting the details and are serious about bidding in person, you can call the original owner (and apparently auctioneer) at (516) 695-0315 to get the details. About the only thing odder than the original owner’s method for selling his time capsule is the fact he didn’t bother to take the car out of his garage to photograph it!
Since the original owner will take the highest bid next Sunday, here are the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool value estimates based on condition:
#1 “Concours” – $26,300
#2 “Excellent” – $14,100
#3 “Good” – $8,700
#4 “Fair (Daily Driver) – $4,700
With its 460 cubic inch V8 stuffed under its long hood, this designer edition offers a unique opportunity to own and drive 1970s personal luxury in a distinct color combination. If you decide to attend the home auction, good luck with the purchase!
