First posted late last week and still listed here on Craigslist in Port Monmouth, New Jersey is this restorable green over black vinyl, 1978 Dodge D200 3/4 Ton pickup the private seller is currently asking $5,500 for.  Looking at the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool shows the current caretaker has his truck priced about halfway between the #3 “Good” level of $7,400 and the #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $3,400.  If you are serious about buying this D200, you can call the private seller, Tommy, directly at (732) 299-1904.

Dodge introduced its redesigned third generation D series pickups in 1972 and produced it through the 1980 model year with only minor changes. In addition to its more rounded look over the prior version, third generation D Series featured an independent front suspension and innovative recessed tail lights design to prevent being damaged when loading the bed.  These trucks were built with a considerable amount of galvanized steel to resist rust and corrosion, as the example featured here exemplifies.

The private seller Tommy briefly describes his truck as a “West Coast pickup with no rust that runs excellent.”  The 400 cubic inch big block V8 under the hood received a rebuild just 38K miles ago and features a new exhaust system and battery.  Nice comfort options on this 3/4 Ton pickup include power steering, power brakes, and what appears to be factory installed air conditioning.  While Tommy states his truck is rust free, he also notes that two front fenders are included as part of the sale.  This D200 has great bones to either restore to its factory fresh glory or take it in the custom direction of your choice.  Whichever way you choose,  good luck with the purchase!
