We love finding first-generation, mechanically unmodified, “NA” Mazda Miatas such as this Mariner Blue example posted on Craigslist in scenic LeRoy, New York where the current caretaker is asking $2,500 for, which is $1,700 less than the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool’s #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate. No haggling needed here; just pay the money and drive this Miata away. Based on the owner’s description, we wonder whether they are the original owner.
Here’s the owner’s description that has us wondering:
“1993 Mazda Miata MX-5 for sale. 195k miles runs great and dependable. Clean. Solid body, Zero Rust. Stored winters. Primarily used as commute car. 5 speed, power windows, power mirrors. Well maintained -New clutch, radiator, battery, alternator, water pump, valve cover gaskets, etc. Not perfect – The AC is not currently working and paint clear coat is flaking in some spots. Still has original top but still in OK shape.”
Miatas have proven themselves to be extremely reliable sports cars and this well-maintained example proves they are capable of going 200K and beyond with proper care. For $2,500 bucks you can’t find more fun in a used car than a first generation Mazda Miata. Just promise us you’ll ditch the white stripes on this example before you have the air conditioning fixed. Good luck with the purchase!
