November 29, 2019 Update – While driving by the location of this side of the road find, we noticed this purple Ford was no longer parked, so we’re calling this truck “Sold!”

Sometimes you can find great collector trucks on your way to your local Cars & Coffee.  That’s exactly what happened to us when we spotted this 1992 Ford F-150 Flareside 4×4 parked with a “For Sale” sign asking $9,500 for it.  Visiting the NADA Guides Online Classic Car Valuation Tool reveals their “Low”, “Average”, and “High” retail range for these trucks is only $2,291, $4,481, and $7,225, respectively.  The curled-up paper signs in this truck’s side windows indicate a fresh long block supplied by the local Ford dealer so we’re assuming the premium requested is an attempt to recoup that cost. However, the rest of the truck, while solid, is by no means “like new” so you’ll need to learn from the seller how negotiable they are on the price.

In addition to the afore-mentioned new long block, this F-150 Styleside has 4×4, a column-shifted automatic transmission.  From our vantage point when we looked at the truck, it appears to have cruise control (with steering wheel-mounted buttons) and factory air conditioning.  We’ve provided a number of underside shots that indicate solid chassis hidden under surface rust.  The two things that hold us back on the asking price are the missing running boards (the mounts are still attached) and the damaged passenger side fiberglass fender flare.  Unfortunately, we could not get a glimpse of the mileage indicated on the odometer.  While purple trucks are not for everyone, we like the combination of the short retro Flareside bed combined with the flexibility of four-wheel drive.  Good luck with the purchase!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on whether you think this F-150 Styleside is priced too high for its current condition.  Comment below and let us know!

  1. Side of the Road 20: 1992 Ford F150 Flareside 4X4 – SOLD!

It would be easier for buyers to make an inquiry if the phone number was correct. it is 217, not 271.

Roger, thank you for alerting us to the error. Please note this truck first appeared one year ago and is no longer for sale. We’ve updated the post to reflect that and to prevent any future confusion.
