Posted just in time for Sports Car Saturday is an interesting restored 974 Corvette Convertible we discovered on Craigslist in Tappan, New York the private seller hopes to sell for $20,800. Referring to the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool we learned the current caretaker has his C3 priced $1,400 above the #3 “Good” estimate of $19,400.

Chevrolet lore has it that when engineers developed the original small-block V8, they nicknamed it internally as “Might Mouse.” Once Chevy launched the block big 396 cubic inch engine in 1965, Chevrolet enthusiasts started referring to small blocks as “Mouse Motors” while their big- block brethren get tagged “Rat Motors.”  1974 was the last year Chevrolet offered the big block 454 V8 in the C3 Corvette, so at first, when the post caught our eye we thought we were looking at a factory install when in fact the original 350 made way for this transplant.. However, we like how the owner installed the proper “454” hood scripts and proceeded to use what appears to be the factory-correct air cleaner required for the larger motor.  The only thing we can’t tell from the pictures provided is whether the engine plaque located at the base of the shifter has been upgraded as well.  By the seller’s account, this well-documented Corvette appears to be a nicely restored example with a great powertrain upgrade that won’t disappoint each time you mash the go pedal.  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:
