Buy Before I do: 1968 Chevrolet C3 Corvette L79 4-Speed – Sold!

Dec 2019 | Classifinds, Sports Car Saturday

Update: This one got away, but if you have your heart set on something similar, email us the details of what you’re looking for or call Rudy directly at (908)295-7330

If it was 1968 and I was old enough to order a new C3 Corvette, the Lemans Blue over Medium Blue example listed on Craiglist in Blackwood, New Jersey is exactly how I would have ordered mine. Asking $21,000, a quick check of the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool as a guide confirms the current caretaker has his Corvette priced exactly at the #3 “Good” estimate.  Someone serious about buying this Corvette needs to text Lou at (609) 221-6324 to set up an appointment before I do!

While this small block powered is a numbers matching example with original paint and provides a nicely documented history, it appears this Corvette has not been officially judged by the National Corvette Restorers Society as at first blush this car would make a great “Survivor” candidate to take to Bloomington next summer.  Prior to that, you’ll need to swap out the original hood that comes as part of the sale. Additionally, even though the recreated window sticker indicates this Corvette originally came with “PO1” hubcaps, you’ll need to confirm with the seller whether he still has those as he describes the current ones on the car as “PO3’s”  If one of our readers can confirm the difference, please comment below!

Seriously, someone please buy this Corvette before I do as my wife is even encouraging me to grab it!  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:

“Here is an original 68 Corvette L79
W/ orig paint.. lemans blue / medium blue interior..
options: tinted windows, rear window defog, Transistor IGN, m21 4spd, po3 hubcaps, red line radials, shoulder belts, 370 posi

Documented 76k mile car. Notice orig HT engine code chalk ID on cylinder head.  Original motor and drivetrain still in the car from day it was born . This is a matching #’s car.
Only Nonoriginal parts on the car are the vintage headers which were installed early in its life and the L88 hood (I have the original hood). Frame is super clean being a Nebraska car all it’s life.
The last picture was taken in 1970 .
