Lost Storage: 1972 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350 – SOLD!

Dec 2019 | Classifinds, Malaise Monday

November 2020 Update – We’re busy updating our database to accurately reflect the status of every car we’ve featured since starting GuysWithRides.com.  This Firebird Formula we first featured in December 2019 has since sold. This one may have got away, but if you have your heart set on something similar, email us the details of what you’re looking for or call Rudy directly at (908)295-7330.

Over its twelve-year production run, a crippling UAW strike during most of the 1972 model year make Firebird Formula 350s such as this green over tan four-speed example here on Craigslist near Rensselaer, New Jersey a rare site today.  The private seller is currently asking $12,500 or best offer, which relying on the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool as a guide confirms the price is halfway between the #3 “Good” appraisal of $14,300 and the #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $8,100.  If you are serious about taking over this stalled project, you can start the conversation by texting Sal at (518) 860-5718.

With its rebuilt engine, 4-speed manual transmission, and recent paint job in need of final polishing, this is a very realistic project you can complete in time for the first spring cruise.  We prefer the unique twin scoop hood, the lack of a rear spoiler the non-wrap-around rear window, and the single round headlights these early second generation Firebirds sported.  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:

“Numbers matching 1972 Firebird Formula 350 4speed. Car was repainted 2 years ago and needs to be cut and buffed. Lower 1/4’s, trunk floor and tail panel were replaced. Gaps are good and car is straight. Car runs and drives just needs some miscellaneous reassembly to be complete. Most parts are there only thing missing is a bumper and maybe a few other small things. I planned to finish and keep but am losing my winter storage spot. Paperwork includes a title, phs docs and receipts showing a $3500 engine rebuild along with other expenses. I have a rear spoiler and deck lid that can go with if wanted (not factory on this car but looks good). Car has proper date coded 1972 rally 2 wheels, 4 brand new tires, brand new full exhaust system, tons of other new parts. The bottom of the car is rust free but dirty as seen in the pics. $12,500 obo
