January 15th Update:  getting ready for Wagon Wednesday we came across an updated post for this neat ’67 Austin Mini Countryman we first featured on October 30th with the price lowered to $17,500.  We’ve updated the link and added the new pictures featured in the owner’s latest post.  Good luck with the purchase!

Posted just in time for Wagon Wednesday on Craigslist in scenic Gorham, New York is what appears to be a nicely restored 77k original mile, 1967 Austin Mini Mark 1 Countryman which the current caretaker is now asking $17,500 for.  The NADA Online Classic Car Valuation Tool currently lists its “Low”, “Average”, and “High” value range for this rare Mini at $5,900, $11,350, and $16,900, respectively.

British Motor Corporation produced their first-generation Mark 1 Mini from 1959 through 1967.  Designed by Sir Alexander Issigonis, Mark 1 Minis are easily identified by their sliding side door windows, external door hinges, and “mustache” style grille.  Issigonis’ innovative design of a transverse-mounted engine and front-wheel drive provided a very roomy interior in a very small size and thus became a standard design philosophy for many cars and small SUVs produced today.   The innovative suspension design with the diminutive wheels placed at the outboard corners of the car made these Minis exceptional handling cars that are downright fun to drive even today.

The private seller provides a brief, eclectic description of their Mini as its not clear whether their car is an immaculate original or a finely restored example.  While we tend to believe the latter, you’ll need to confirm the history of the car with the current caretaker:

“Fantastic 1967 Austin Mini Countryman available for sale. These are rarely seen, and are a much beloved attention getter. Great advertising for your business, great for knocking about town, visiting wineries and distilleries, car shows etc. A really fun car to drive! Very easy to show. Serious inquiries please email through CL for additional photos and details. Include your contact info if you want a call back.”

We love the great color combination of this car and the wood dashboard is simply stunning.  We agree with the seller’s assertion this rare Mini Countryman will get you attention everywhere you decide to drive it.  Good luck with the purchase!
