JDM Miata: 1992 Mazda Eunos Roadster V-Special RHD – Sold!

Jan 2020 | Classifinds, Sports Car Saturday

Update: This one got away, but if you have your heart set on something similar, email us the details of what you’re looking for or call Rudy directly at (908)295-7330

If you like Miatas yet want to stand apart from the crowd and are willing to challenge your muscle memory, you should consider this Japanese Domestic Market (“JDM”) right-hand-drive example listed on Craigslist in Wilton, Connecticut by the private seller for $9,000. Using the value from the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool for a domestic example as a proxy, the private seller has his Eunos priced between the #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $14,100 and the #3 “Good” estimate of $7,500.

The private seller Dan is open to trades in lieu of cash for his Eunos, so if you are seriously interested in purchasing this unique Miata, you can start the conversation by first texting with the phrase “I am Human” and then calling Dan at (216) 223-8479 as he has to screen his calls due to the text bots he’s been inundated with already.

As the seller indicates, Doug DeMuro provides a great overview of a similar Eunos V-Special on his YouTube Channel:

We like Miatas and love driving them, so this right-hand-drive version would really test our muscle memory as we get admiring stares from passers-by.  If you can negotiate the best option for a new top with the seller, you’ll have a unique Miata that will be a conversation starter at any event you decide to drive it.  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:

“Up for sale is my beautiful, pristine condition 1992 Eunos Roadster. This car is finished in British Racing Green with tan leather interior. It is right hand drive and a real JDM car. No need to sell but I want something different.

It has the V-Special package which includes the very rare Nardi wood shift knob, handbrake handle and steering wheel (no airbag), viscous limited slip differential, BBS wheels, aforementioned tan leather interior, stainless steel “Roadster” door sill plates and “V-Special” brown floor mats.

This car was originally imported to the USA by Dallas JDM Motors in Arlington, TX and is registered in my name in Connecticut. It still has all the registration stickers from Japan on the windshield. The car has a clean Texas title as Connecticut does not title vehicles older than 20 years. Connecticut inspection and VIN verification paperwork from the Hamden DMV is included, as well as all export and import paperwork you will need to register it in any US state. Stated odometer value is in km (about 71k miles).

Exterior is 8/10. There are a few small scratches, one ding in the rear bumper, and one interesting black smear on the front bumper, driver’s side. Interior is 10/10 with perfect condition tan leather seats.

The soft top needs to be replaced. It currently has a poorly installed black vinyl soft top that is not fastened on the passenger side. I will include a new tan soft top and frame, which were given to me by the seller in Texas, however this top does not have a rain rail and looks like it may be a cheap eBay knockoff. I recommend getting a new Robbins soft top. For $1,000 on top of the sale price I will source and fully install a Robbins top for you.

Mechanically, this car is perfect. It readily starts up at any temperature, runs beautifully and shifts smooth. There is NO RUST ANYWHERE ON THE CAR. It received a rustproof undercoat from a previous owner and I have never driven it in the rain or on salty roads.

The only mods I am aware of are:
– DASH strut tower brace (installed in Japan)
– Cone filter to replace stock airbox (installed in USA). Not technically a CAI because no box. No noticeable power drop when warm. Sounds nice.
– The suspension feels lower and firmer than a stock NA6. I haven’t had the chance to figure out what it is. (Likely done in Japan)
– Alpine CDE-143BT radio, Beltronics radar detector mount/smartcord and USB charger hardwired (radar detector not included) (installed by myself)

There’s also a cool Japanese Kenwood CD changer and visualizer thing which I’ll include but they don’t have an aux jack or bluetooth so they’re not too useful in modern times.

This is your chance to own a fully legal JDM Eunos Roadster in the US! This is BY FAR the cleanest Eunos Roadster I’ve personally seen. Take advantage of this rare opportunity and get complimented at every car meet and gas station you go to.

Open to trades for anything small, lightweight, RWD and manual – top picks would be a Mazdaspeed Miata or super clean NB2, S2000, or MR2.

All sales final. Cash only. Transaction will be conducted at the bank in person. Negotiation must be conducted in person. No test drives without a $500 cash deposit in hand and valid driver’s license.
