Doppleganger Edition: 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate 9 Passenger – Sold!
Two weeks ago to the day, we featured a virtually identical 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Nine Passenger as the one we just found listed on Craigslist in Johnston, Rhode Island where the current caretaker is asking $4,500 for it. Judging by the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool the private seller has this Estate priced $1,000 more than the #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $3,500.
1996 was the final year for the GM full-frame classic wagons such as the example presented here. We love the fact that this Estate does not have faux wood paneling on the sides. Unlike the version we featured two weeks ago, neither the pictures nor the description indicates whether this Roadmaster is equipped with the desirable towing package, so you’ll need to confirm that with the seller. In fact, this seller indicates his Roadmaster is equipped with the Grand Touring handling package, so we’re curious to know whether those were two discrete packages (please comment below if you know). Besides needing a good engine detailing, the only other item we believe will need attention appears to be the driver’s side seat foam.
After recently witnessing a similar example complete a posi-traction-inspired smokey burn-out, we’ve added the Roadmaster to our future collection wish-list. We’ll likely never see such a large nine-passenger capable, the rear-wheel-drive car again, so this Roadmaster combines modern convenience with traditional station wagon utility. Good Luck with the purchase!
Here’s the seller’s description:
