The upside of an older restoration is that chances are very good the car still looks very good with perhaps only a few minor bumps and bruises.  The downside is that if you’re hoping to have the car judged at a major Corvette club outing you may have your work cut out for you.  If you’re leaning towards the former and really have your heart set on a big block, then this War Bonnet Yellow over Saddle vinyl, 454/4-speed, 1971 C3 listed on Craigslist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania  may be just the one for you.  The current caretaker for the past eight years of this 15 year-old example currently has his Corvette listed for $40,000.   A review of the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms this private seller has his C3 priced $2,000 above the current #3 “Good” estimate of $38,000 which about where we would expect a car with a 15 year old restoration to be at.  The current caretaker calls his Corvette “Ginger” and while he likely came up with that name based on the exterior color, we think it fits because this is the C3 you don’t have to be afraid to drive yet is flashy enough that you want to be seen as the one driving and owning it.  Ginger is not the typical color combination we see however it is growing on us as we look at the pictures.  Most C3s painted in this hue we’ve come across also have a black interior, so perhaps the saddle of this example softens the look.  While this example is not equipped with air conditioning, it does feature power steering and power brakes.  Overall, a nice looking summer fun car that will likely get you to and from every cruise trouble-free.  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:

“Totally restored in 2005. Matching #s. Car was painted along with a list that’s to long to post. I have a book with what was restored & date along with receipts. What ever I’ve done has also been included as well. Thresher mufflers, 454/365 hp, manual transmission, saddle interior, many chrome parts on engine, 4 speed hurst shifter, am/fm radio, power steering, power brakes, T top with removable rear window ( does not leak like most T tops of that time) and telescopic steering wheel. Also included is a car cover and many other items that I show in one of the pictures. The engine runs great. No knocks or other noises. This car is a driver for sure. I’ve had Ginger for 8 wonderful years but I have decided to move on to another toy.
