While many C3 Corvette enthusiasts dream of owning one they can call their own, those visions can be quickly crushed when they drive a minimally-optioned example.  The 1971 C3 Corvette Coupe listed recently on Craigslistin Tysons, Virginia nicely equipped with power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning is a perfect driver-quality example for someone to ease into driving a C3 for the first time for a great first impression that will leave them hooked.  Offered at $25,900 or best offer,  a review of the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms this private seller has his C3 priced between the #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $35,000 and the #3 “Good” estimate of $17,700.

1971 Corvettes were virtually identical in appearance to the prior year both inside and out. This was the final year for the fiber optics light monitoring system, the headlight washer system, and the M22 heavy-duty 4-speed manual gearbox. For the first time, air conditioning was installed on most of the cars, with nearly 53 percent so ordered. Engines were detuned with reduced compression ratios to tolerate lower octane fuel. The small blocks available were the 350 cu in (5.7 L) base engine, which dropped to 270 hp as the engine, which the example here is equipped with.

A nicely optioned, driver quality, entry-level C3 Corvette. That’s the vibe we get from this example.  With a recent bumpers-left-on paint job, you won’t be taking this example to a Bloomington Gold judging event but it sure does like nice anywhere else you drive it to.  Our only advice is to thoroughly check the frame underneath and if possible have a pre-purchase inspection to ensure you know what you’re getting into before you negotiate your best offer.  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:
