Guys With Their Rides 19: Mike and His 1959 Morris Minor
We believe there is a story under every hood and we love hearing every one of them! Our latest Guys With Their Rides story comes from Mike R. located in Tampa, Florida who shared his wonderful right-hand-drive 1959 Morris Minor.
Mike reports that he restores steering wheels as hobby. One day, a gentleman sent Mike a steering wheel that was quite different from what he had ever seen or was used to. It was a “Banjo” style wheel from the 1960’s whom the owner said was the final piece of his Morris Minor restoration. Not knowing what a Morris Minor was, the owner sent Mike a picture of his car. Upon seeing it Mike thought, “Those are really cool, unique cars.” That fateful moment eventually turned into an informal two-year search for Mike to find the perfect Minor for him: a one- owner 1959 original unrestored survivor!
Finding the perfect car was the good news. The bad news was Mike finding the car in England. Lucky for Mike, the seller said, “No worries” and arranged an uneventful transport of the Morris to Florida across the Atlantic.
Mike’s right-hand-drive, low-mile beauty can be seen driven often. In case you’re wondering, yes, he’ll gladly take the time to listen to your Moggie story!
Thanks for sharing Mike.
