When I was in my early teens, I remember a young married man who lived in an apartment a few doors down. He worked in a collision shop and during the milder months, he drove a shiny black ’65 Chevy Biscayne two-door post coupe with a plain black vinyl interior.  Lurking under the hood of his car was a 396 Rat Motor controlled by a floor-mounted Hurst shifter that banged up against the front of the car’s bench seat.  I loved hearing him start that car up and driving off as it taught me sometimes less can be a lot more when it comes to street machines.

This white Biscayne on Craigslist in Lake Carmel, New York, while not as shiny, reminded me of that neighbor and his car. Equipped with 360 horsepower 396 Big Block, a review of the  Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms this private seller has his partially restored Biscayne priced right at the below the current #2 “Good” estimate of $19,100.  With this car still in need of an interior refresh, the current asking price is a bit optimistic but on a positive note the seller indicates he’s open to offers.  

With the exterior restoration completed in 2018 and powertrain updated with plenty of game, you can spend weeknights slowly restoring this Biscayne’s interior in between cruises to your favorite show once the season is allowed to start.  Good thing this Biscayne isn’t black as I might be buying it to relive my youth.  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:

“1965 Chevy Biscayne 396 4spd. Frame off restoration. Refurbished frame. All new body mounts. Car was painted in fall of 2018 with single stage lacquer paint, and put back together with all new emblems. Also has new fuel lines, new brake lines, and new brake cables. All suspension bushings (front and rear) have been renewed, and rear suspension was converted to factory style 4 link. (f-41) The rear end is a stock heavy duty 10 bolt, with GM 3.36 gears and an Auburn posi unit. Transmission is a rebuilt M20 Muncie, with original Muncie shifter. Engine is a 396ci V8 built to 360hp spec. It’s 0.30 over with a forged steel crank (with clevite CL77 bearings), TRW forged pistons (with Moly rings). Melling oil pump, cam, lifters, and timing chain. “Hole shot” aluminum intake with 650 Edelbrock carb. Car also has Hedman Headers with a custom dual exhaust. 2.5” Front to rear with turbo mufflers. On the inside the car has Autometer tach and gauges. Custom Autosound AM/FM in dash. Power steering with manual brakes.

Car needs an interior and some TLC.
