Unreal Deal: 1956 Porsche Speedster Replica – SOLD!
Update: This one got away, but if you have your heart set on something similar, email us the details of what you’re looking for or call Rudy directly at (908)295-7330
The U.S. median home price last year was $200,000. Two hundred large these days will only get you a driver quality ’56 Porsche Speedster and at that kind of money, you would likely only drive it in and out of your enclosed trailer when you are at an event showing the car off. Luckily, if you want to experience what it was like driving the real deal, you can buy a turn-key, Volkswagen-based, Porsche Speedster for about ten percent of an original’s cost. It comes in the form of a Speedster replica like the one that was listed on Craigslist in Rochelle Park, New Jersey, with an asking price of $19,500.
Whether you call it a “Recreation”, “Kit Car”, or “Replica” car, while it looks and somewhat sounds like a mid-fifties Porsche 356 Speedster, the VW engine, fiberglass body, and different chassis likely don’t provide the same experience as a Concours quality original example would. However, a similar experience at ten percent of the cost of a real one makes a compelling argument. The downside is that without a Porsche serial number, this car will not gain you admission to any Porsche Club. If you’re okay with that, then good luck with the purchase and enjoy!
