Red Ride: 1982 Mercedes Benz W123 300CD Coupe – SOLD!
June 15th Update – While updating our past Malaise Monday listings, we confirmed the private seller deleted their Craigslist post, so we’re calling this W123 Coupe “Sold!”
While its no secret we’ve featured a number of Mercedes’ W123 diesel-powered wagons, a coupe version such as the one we found listed on Craigslist in Delmar, Delaware is a rare find, especially in this bright red shade of paint. The caretaker of this 266,00 original mile, red over tan MB tex 1982 300CD is currently asking $3,600 for. A review of the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool for this Mercedes reveals the the current caretaker has his coupe priced $1,000 above the #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $4,600.
The YouTube Channel Regular Car Reviews completed a review of a similar 1978 model. If you can get past some of the immature narration at times, the review does provide some great facts about these cars:
While just under 300,000 miles on just about any other car is nearly impossible to attain without a powertrain rebuild, it’s a good warm-up for these W123 Mercedes. While you’ll never go fast in one of these 300CDs, you’ll be coddled in comfortable luxury at an extremely relaxing pace. Good luck with the purchase!
Here’s the seller’s description:
