Royal Rake: 1983 Chrysler Imperial Street Machine – SOLD?

Jun 2020 | Classifinds, Malaise Monday

July 31st Update – While updating our past Malaise Monday listings, we confirmed the Craigslist post for this car Imperial expired, so with no replacement ad found so we’re assuming this very cool Street Machine “Sold?”, however we will keep our eyes open for an updated listing if that turns out to not be the case.

June 15th Update:  Wow. All we can say is, “Wow!” That was our reaction when we saw this cool Imperial street machine we first featured in early January.  Despite what appears to be no bites at the current asking price, the private seller remains firm on the $15,900 level.

As we look through dozens of “classifinds” to share each day, every so often we come across something that just stops us in our tracks.  The latest is this stunning 1983 Chrysler Imperial custom street machine posted on Craigslist in Medina, Ohio for the asking price of $15,900.  Despite all of the custom details, paint, and powertrain, the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller is asking $700 less than the #1 “Concours” estimate for a stock example. There is a lot of custom touches with a professional build quality you simply cannot replicate for sixteen large.

If you are a die hard Mopar fan who wants to stand out from the crowd while being coddled in luxury to and from every car show, we think this may be just the ticket.  We’re generally fans of the huge wheel craze, but they just work on this example.  When was the last time you saw ladder bars combined with Brembo brakes?  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:

“You are looking at a Custom 1983 Chrysler Imperial. Previous owner said he had $50k into this one off custom build. Body has lots of custom metal work and an amazing Pearl White paint job with custom ghost flames. Shaved door handles with poppers, custom hood, working hideaway headlights, dual sport mirrors, dual exhaust, ladder bars, red leather interior, power steering, custom wood sport steering wheel and a digital dash. 15,550 ORIGINAL miles. Powered by a 401 Stroker Motor and automatic transmission. A/C blows ice cold. Brembo 4 wheel power disc brake conversion and custom 18″ front and 20” rear “BIGG” Chrome Wheels. Lots of car for the money!
