Along Came a Spider: 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Series 3 – SOLD!

We often come across red over black Alfa Romeo Spiders we rarely give a second glance to.  However, any time we discover a rare color combination such as this Midnight Blue over tan leather 1986 Spider Veloce Series 3 on Craigslist in Cohasset, Massachusetts, we had to feature it.  Reported to be a “Southern Car” with only 41,000 original miles and benefitting from a recent sorting, the current caretaker has it listed for $11,500.  Checking the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the asking price is $200 above the current #3 “Good” estimate of $11,300.

Alfa Romeo produced the two-seat, front-engine, rear-drive Spider sports car for nearly thirty years from 1966 to 1994 in four distinct series. The Spider featured here is a Series 3 example produced in the middle of the production from 1989 through 1994.

Power for all North American Spiders came from a 2.0 liter double overhead cam inline-four featuring Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection producing 126 brake horsepower at 5,400 RPM and 131 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 RPM. Power from this engine transferred to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission with a distinctive shifter that appears to protrude from the middle of the dashboard.
