1965 Cadillac Coupe de Ville Convertible 47K Survivor – SOLD!

Jul 2020 | Craigslist ClassiFINDS, Topless Thursday

September 9th Update – While updating our past Topless Thursday listings, we confirmed the private seller deleted their Craigslist post, so we’re calling this Caddy “Sold!”

American designers of the 1960s had the luxury of making their full-size offerings long and wide, especially in convertible form such as this rust free 1965 Cadillac DeVille Convertible listed recently in Wallington, New Jersey. The private seller is currently asking $31,500 for his 47,000 original mile Cadillac, which a check of the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms he has his like-new ragtop priced between the #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $36,200 and the #3 “Good” estimate of $24,500.

By 1965 DeVille denoted Cadillac’s mainstream model, falling between the Calais (which replaced the Series 62) and the Eldorado. The DeVille was redesigned for 1965 but rode on the same 129.5-inch (3,290 mm) wheelbase.  Stylists canted the tail fins were canted slightly downward, and sharp, distinct body lines replaced the rounded look. Also new were a straight rear bumper and vertical lamp clusters. The headlight pairs switched from horizontal to vertical, thus permitting a wider grille. Curved frameless side windows appeared, and convertibles acquired tempered glass backlights. New standard features included lamps for luggage, glove and rear passenger compartments and front and rear safety belts. Power was still supplied by the 340 horsepower 429 cubic inch V8. Perimeter frame construction allowed repositioning the engine six inches forward in the frame, thus lowering the transmission hump and increasing interior room. All four DeVille models had small “Tiffany-like” script nameplates on the ends of their rear fenders just above the chrome side molding.

While the private seller does not provide any pictures of either the engine or undercarriage,  chances are extremely good your in-person inspection will confirm this low-mileage DeVille originally from California Good luck with the purchase!
