Finally Sold?: 1985 Chevrolet C20 3/4 Ton Pickup – SOLD?

Aug 2020 | Truckin Tuesday

August 3rd Update:  While updating our database we confirmed the latest listing for this ’85 Chevy C20 offered for only $3,500 expired.  With no replacement listing to be found, we’re assuming the private seller finally found a buyer so we will be keeping close tabs on whether that turns out to be the case.

June 30th Update:  We just came across another listing for this 1985 Chevrolet C20 3/4 Ton pickup we originally featured last August.  At the time, we felt the lack of pictures likely didn’t help sell this truck, however at only $3,500 we’re fascinated why this truck remains with its seller.  He’s added a number of fresh pictures, including some of the undercarriage, so we’ve updated everything.  Maybe this time it will finally find a new home.

February 1oth Update:  Another month has passed and we noticed yet another fresh listing for this bare bones Chevy C20 we first featured early last August.  The price has remained at $3,500 and we’re still not sure why someone hasn’t picked this truck up. Either this example is much worse in person than the pictures show or there’s enough inventory out there that people are finding other alternatives for the same amount of money.  We tend to believe the former.  Good luck with the purchase!

January 21st Update:  We’re a bit perplexed why this work truck we first featured last August 8th is now listed again by the same owner for a slightly lower price of $3,500 firm.  Part of the problem back then was likely the single picture combined with a very sarcastic write up (we wish we kept as we thought it was quite funny but perhaps other didn’t). In any event, this still appears to be an honest work truck with a newer replacement motor.  Good luck with the purchase!

We normally don’t select vehicles where the ad only provides a single picture, however the description on this 1985 Chevrolet C20 3/4 we found here on Craigslist in Cranbury, New Jersey convinced us to get the word out on this Square Body where the private seller has his truck firmly priced at what seems to be a bargain $3,500.  Using the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool as a guide, the private seller has his C20 Square Body priced $100 below the #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $3,600.

The basic facts about this truck describe it as a 166K mile example with a replacement 350 cubic inch small block V8 connected to an automatic transmission.  The seller states his 3/4 Ton Chevy also features a new am/fm/cd /usb/Bluetooth radio with a fender mounted antenna.  He also reports that his truck has the eight foot bed with a “great tailgate and step bumper” already equipped with a slide-in trailer hitch and wiring that features a new electric brake controller.  As far as the body and frame, the private seller states, “the body has a few dents and rust spots however the frame is solid.”  With no air conditioning or power seat, this truck is an honest, minimally optioned 3/4 ton example that can still be used to do what it does best: work. Good luck with the purchase!
