Recently Deceased Update: 1968 Buick Skylark Sport Coupe – SOLD!

Oct 2020 | Classifinds, Free For All Friday

October 1st Update – One week after coming across this one-registered-owner flip by the second owner, we confirmed they deleted their Craigslist ad earlier this week.  Hopefully, this survivor-quality Buick has finally found a long-term home in someone’s garage.

September 24th Update – we called it when we first featured this one-owner ’68 Buick Skylark back in late May when someone representing the 102-year-old original owner who recently passed away listed her car for sale for $9,200.  We weren’t surprised when we confirmed the ad was quickly deleted as this was clearly a great Craigslist find at the time.  Fast Forward to now and while the second person who bought it hasn’t registered it yet, they’ve replaced the tires, radiator, water pump, and gave the car a tune-up.  They are now asking $12,000.  With this history in hand, you can make a reasonable offer knowing what they paid and what they’ve put into it.

Sometimes we come across a potentially great “Classifind” at the very last moment before we finish posting for the current day.  This 1968 Buick Skylark Sport Coupe just listed last night in May 2020 is a prime example.  With only a single picture posted, the private seller states this is an unmodified one-owner car originally purchased by a 102-year-old woman who recently passed away.  Offered at $9,200, the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the seller has it priced between the #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $12,600 and the #3 “Good” estimate of $8,100.

This is the type of listing that likely is a hidden treasure, and if it checks out as all original, this would make a prime candidate for judging in the Antique Automobile Club of America’s (“AACA”) Historical Preservation, Original Features (“HPOF”) Class. Good luck with the purchase!
