October 16 Update – When we first came across this very nicely restored 1962 Austin Healey BN7 in early May of 2020, the private seller based in Knoxville, Tennesee said he would only entertain offers over $200,000 and thus we awarded him our 42nd “NEW! (short for “No Effin Way!) Award for a completely out of touch asking price.  We’re not surprised to find that he still has his relisted his BN7 for sale and is now only interested in offers over $100,000.  That’s now a realistic ask based upon the condition and provenance of his big Healey. While your Austin Healey may be a very nicely restored example that presents very well that’s already rare car, it does not get a premium for being a one-of-one when basically these cars were hand-built when new.  Unfortunately the restorer and long-time owner of this 1962 Austin Healey 3000 BN7 currently listed here on Craigslist in Knoxville, Tennesee is letting his emotions get in the way by asking for offers over $200,000.  Unfortunately for him, the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool currently lists their #1 “Concours” value at $127,000.  With a completely unrealistic asking price, we have no choice but to give the seller our latest NEW! (short for “No Effin Way!) Award.

Here’s the seller’s current description:

One of One, a true museum car. This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 MK 11, is the only big Healey that has this distinction of being the only one because of the combination of being a 1962 three carburetors, 2seater and German model. 1962 is the only year the cars were all three carburetors and, of the over 5,000 that were produced that year, only 355 were the 2 seater bn7-11 model and, this is the only one of the 355 that is a German model. It has a few different features including, a locking steering wheel and the front has seperate lights for the signal and parking lights, rear lights a little different too and, a minor difference on the wheels, as required by German law. This Healey has the condition to match the rarity. It was ordered new by a US Army Officer stationed in Germany. Car was brought back to the US and stored in Missouri until I purchase it in 2002. This Healey was brought to Tenn and restored by a Friend and I. I have never found any rust on the car. Actually, the car has not been in the rain since 1974 and has only 44,000 miles on it. I make it a point to drive the car at least once a month, and for at least a few miles. I do not drive the car if the pavement is wet or if there are clouds in the sky.
Since it needed painted and a new interior, we just went ahead and restored all the mechanicals. It is strong. We also installed new 72 spoke SS chrome wire wheels and new tires. It has a top and side curtains. The cars heritage certificate shows that it came from the factory Healey blue and we painted it that color with off white coves. The only thing that was altered on the car, we did a louvered hood and everyone loves it. If you so desire, I have an extra factory hood that you can have to put it back to original. It has 4 speed w/electric overdrive.
I had the car signed by the original British designer of the Austin-Healey and he says that it should be in a museum. Since I have gotten so old, I will let it go but only if I receive over $100,000.
