Classifind Cut 26: 1977 Toyota Hilux Long Bed – SOLD!

Oct 2020 | Classifind Cut, Classifinds, Truckin Tuesday

October 27th Update: We just confirmed the private seller of this classic mini truck deleted their Craigslist ad, so we’re now able to call this one “Sold!”  This one may have got away, but if you have your heart set on something similar, email us the details of what you’re looking for or call Rudy directly at (908)295-7330.

While the 20R engine used to power Toyota’s 1970s vintage compact pickup trucks proved to be virtually bulletproof, the bodies supporting them tended to rust away due to the low-quality, unprotect steel used at the time.  This survivor-quality 1977 Hilux Long Bed with only 76,900 original miles first listed for $12,500 in October 2020 on Craigslist near Charlottesville,  Virginia avoided a similar fate.

Here’s the seller’s description:

“Maybe the nicest remaining 1977 Toyota pickup in the country. Not a spec of rust anywhere. Very nice interior, chrome, glass etc

Purchased out of a collection in North Carolina. 76,900 original miles!!! original Stock 20R Toyota engine with a Weber carburetor. Professionally resprayed original white about 10 years ago. Bed liner and tool box. All gauges work. Original Toyota tool bag. Nearly new tires, original stock wheel caps with chrome trim rings.

5-speed manual. Runs and drives like a new truck.

Serious inquiries only. No urgency to sell. No trades. No disappointments. Clear Virginia title in the seller’s name. If interested, email me through Craigslist and leave a name and telephone number for a response.”

Hello there…I recently aquired a 1977 Toyota Hilux SR5 long bed
    With only 78,000 original miles
Excellent condition…..a few rust spots runs great. It was my 85 year old aunt’s truck which was used very seldom . It’s identical in color and has a rear chrome bumper. Was wondering if you have people interested in one like this?
