Classifind Cuts 47: 1980 Morgan Plus 8 – SOLD!
Update – We just confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
Produced from 1968 through 2004, the Morgan Plus 8 enjoys enduring popularity and remains the car credited with not only saving the company but keeping the company famous during the 36 years of its manufacture as well. Among Morgan enthusiasts, it is deeply associated with Peter Morgan, the owner-chairman behind its design.
Morgan Plus 8’s of this vintage imported stateside originally came equipped to run on propane in order to meet U.S. Federal emissions standards, so as of this writing we’re not sure whether this example has been converted back to run on gasoline.
This brown-over-tan 1980 example originally listed in October 2020 on Craigslist in Moorestown, New Jersey is a very nicely maintained example that we’ve enjoyed seeing in person a number of times attending High Octane South Jersey weekly Cars & Coffee events. Offered at $48,500, the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool places the asking price between this guide’s current #3 “Good” estimate of $40,800 and it’s #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $67,600.
Here’s the seller’s description:
“This 1980 Morgan Plus 8 is being offered for sale privately by its collector owner.
Lovingly referred to as CoCo, this Plus8 is any Morgan enthusiasts dream come true. With fewer than 22,000 miles since new, the factory original fit and finish remain positively stunning. – The car IS a genuine time capsule and shows as well Morgans 30+ years her junior, costing nearly twice as much!
Driving bliss, Automotive Nirvana, a great escape… These are the thoughts that will enter your mind as you power CoCo through her gears and recapture your jeu de vie.
I spent years traveling and searching for an early Plus8 of this quality and running condition. CoCo in all sincerity is without comparison.
Qualified buyers are encouraged to reach out with any specific questions. An in-person, cash sale is preferred, and no trades will be considered at this time (unless you have a Morgan Aero 8 or 38’ Cigarette Racing Team, Top Gun, or Apache Powerboat)
CoCo is being offered at $48,500 and represents an extraordinary value for such a rare jewel.

Why is the shifter covered?
Hi David, the seller happened to use the shifter in his Morgan as a holder for his baseball cap when he was walking around the High Octane South Jersey Cars & Coffee where this car was photographed that morning. We wouldn’t read into anything more than that about the shifter.
