Eleven Months Gone: 1975 Lincoln Continental Mark IV Lipstick Edition – Sold?
January 2021 Update – while this “Classifind” expired recently, given the seller’s past history we suspect may not actually be sold yet. For now, we’re labeling this ride “Sold?” However, we will keep an eye for updated listings. In the interim, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
November 15th Update – We just discovered the latest fresh Craigslist ad for this very good looking ’75 Lincoln Mark IV Lipstick Edition. In addition to several nice new pictures highlighting the white and red leather interior, the private seller is now down to an asking price of $10,000.
October 7th Update – We just discovered the latest fresh Craigslist ad for this very good looking ’75 Lincoln Mark IV Lipstick Edition. Unfortunately, the seller continues to remain firm on their $12,000 ask despite no apparent offers in the past ten months.
August 13th, 2020 Update – When we first featured this stunning Lipstick Edition ’75 Lincoln Mark IV back in November 2019, the private seller wanted $13,000. Apparently, he never sold the car as we just came across a fresh listing with the revised price of $12,000.
By the mid-seventies, personal luxury two-door coupes were the rage and Lincoln capitalized on that by offering a number of special “designer editions” of its Continental Mark IV such as this Lipstick and White edition we originally came across in November 2019 on Craigslist in Wevertown, New York where the current caretaker now has it listed for $10,000, a reduction of $3,000 from November 2019 when we first featured this car. Referring to the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool as a guide shows the private seller has his Lincoln priced $2,700 less than the #2 “Estimate” estimate of $14,700. Avid Guys With Rides fans will also note the 1976 One-Owner, red-over-white Lipstick Edition we featured in October 2019 received a winning bid of $13,000 at the original owner’s unique home auction on October 27th.
We love the proportions of these long hood, short deck Mark IVs that still featured pillar-less hardtop styling. The pictures provided indicate a very nicely detailed example featuring rare-for-the-period four-wheel disc brakes and moonroof. While horsepower was down by 1975, people don’t realize the four-barrel topped 460 cubic inch V8 in this car still provided 357 foot-pounds of torque to get this 5,000-pound land yacht moving. Other than the bloody (and we assume fake) hand hanging out of the trunk lid, we’re not big fans of the aftermarket wheels currently on this Lincoln. Luckily the seller will provide the original wheels and some other bit as part of the sale. After seeing a set of Torq Thrusts on this Lincoln Town Coupe on the car we featured earlier this month, we’d likely change go that route. If everything checks out during your in-person inspection, this Mark IV will make an excellent and comfortable cruiser that you can continue to show locally just as the current caretaker appears to have done. Good luck with the purchase!
