Classifind Cut: 1959 Vespa 400 Project – SOLD!
February 2, 2021 Update – we confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
If you’re going to take the plunge into restoring a car over one winter, the holy grail is to score a stalled project where the current caretaker already completed body and paintwork, rebuilt the engine, has all of the new interior bits, and all it needs is someone’s time to put it all back together. Bonus points if said project is small enough to be tucked in a corner of your garage when not being worked on so that you and your spouse’s daily drivers still fit. This 1959 Vespa 400 microcar the current caretaker originally listed in November 2020 on Craigslist in Poestenkill, New York (Albany) appears to fit the bill. Offered at $12,500, this project appears to have a high probability of being completed before spring if you’re willing to dedicate the time. The only challenge then becomes whether you can actually fit inside the car to drive it.
Here’s the seller’s description:
