Factory Five: 1965 AC Cobra Replica – SOLD!

Nov 2020 | Craigslist ClassiFINDS, Sports Car Saturday

November 20th Update: We just confirmed the private seller of this Shelby Cobra replica deleted their Craigslist ad, so we’re now able to call this one “Sold!”  While this one got away, if you have your heart set on something similar, email us the details of what you’re looking for or call Rudy directly at (908)295-7330.

The originals have long been priced at unobtainium levels.  Consequently, the only time you ever see a real Cobra driven is when the owner driver’s their museum piece on and off their trailer at a car show.  Pent-up demand breeds entrepreneurship and in the case of the Shelby Cobra, a cottage industry of “component car” manufacturers has long since produced more replicas of this iconic car than Carroll did back in the sixties.  Within this industry, Factory Five is generally regarded as one of the better component Cobras you build (or have them do it for you), so we have no hesitation featuring this 1994 vintage MK-1 example listed in November 2020 on Craigslist in Putnam Valley, New York for $34,500.

Classic.com, the self-proclaimed search engine and analytics platform for the classic car market, provides this five-year historical pricing trend for the overall Cobra replica market and confirms this example is priced well below this data source’s current average of $45,686:

Here’s the second owner’s detailed description:

“I’m selling a very nice and low mile Factory Five MK-1 Roadster, built in Florida in 1994 and registered in New York as a 1994 so it’s safe from emissions ( I can supply a copy of the title as proof). Powered by a 5.0L Mustang engine, backed by a Tremec 5-spd transmission, 4-wheel disc brakes, Halibrand style wheels, full chrome bumper kits, chrome roll bar and polished side pipes, wind-wings, Guardsman Blue with the requisite Shelby Snake stripes, power rack and pinion steering, HEAT for these colder fall days, wipers, etc. Runs and drives great! Those who know these cars know how reliable they can be, this car is one of those cars, pro built and very well maintained. I’m the 2nd owner and I only drive it in nice weather (no top or tonneau cover, as you can see, forces me to be in nice weather only, LOL). Currently, the car is showing a little more than 4,000 miles. If you are looking for a car that’s fun and attracts attention – this may fit the bill for you. No trades, please.”
