Classifind Cut: 1980 MG MGB Limited Edition – SOLD!

Nov 2020 | Classifinds, Sports Car Saturday

January 30, 2021 Update – we just confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

After a seventeen-year production run started in 1962, ever-increasing emissions and safety regulations conspired with horrific British Leyland management decisions to make 1980 the final year for classic MG sports cars. While the plan was to commemorate the final year with 500 black-over-black limited edition examples, high demand ended up having MG produce 6,682 not-so-rare examples.  With rarity not being an issue, the owner of this 101,800 original mile example originally listed in November 2020 on Craigslist near Greenwich, Connecticut took the liberty of retrofitting a tan leather interior to replace the original black one.  A quick of the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the seller has their MGB priced $600 less than the #3 “Excellent” estimate of $14,600.

Here’s the seller’s description:

“1980 MGB Limited Edition. Black exterior, Tan Leather interior. Excellent condition. 101,800 miles.
4-speed manual.”
