Classifind Cut: 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis – Sold?
January 31st Update – we just confirmed the listing “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
1978 proved to be the last year for Mercury’s Land Yacht sized Marquis before Ford’s downsizing knife introduced the smaller Panther-Platform based version the following year. This red-over-red velour example first listed in November 2020 on Craigslist in Coatesville, Pennsylvania confuses us. Specifically, while the listing indicates this example has 200,533 miles, the car seems to look like an example more in line with a 20,533-mile survivor, repaint aside. Consequently, we recommend verifying what is correct with the seller. With many new parts and an asking price of $6,500, comparing this price against the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms this private seller has their Marquis priced between the #3 “Good” appraisal of $4,150 and the #2 “Very Good” estimate of $6,400.
Here’s the seller’s description:
