Blasphemy or Brilliance: 1973 Porsche 914/WRX Project – SOLD!

Nov 2020 | Classifinds, Sports Car Saturday

January 30, 2021 Update – we just confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

November 28th Update – The private seller of this unique 914 just lowered their asking price from $9,500 to $8,900.

Despite its great looks and superior mid-engine handling characteristics, a stock VW Type 3 powered Porsche 914 is what enthusiasts call “a momentum car.” For years most 914 enthusiasts looking to up the power of their car performed a flat-six conversion sourced from a donor air-cooled 911.  However, the cost of doing that has become prohibitively expensive.

Credit the private seller of this Subaru WRX powered project originally listed in November 2020 on Craigslist in Waterford, Connecticut to think out outside of the box while keeping their 914 technically flat-six powered.  Once complete, the power-to-weight ratio of this combination will likely be much faster than the much more expensive 914/6 tribute route.  So, what do you think about this combination: is it Blasphemy or Brilliance?  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:

“914 Project. Has 2007 WRX engine installed and new wiring harness on the side that needs to be put in.

Curiosity seekers don’t waste my time so have the cash, the space and the ability to put this together and have a real cool car. Have about $13K invested in the car so the price is fair….

If serious leave your name, story and cell.

May consider non-motorcycle/ non-RV /non-boat part-trades. Tell me what you are thinking and what you have…..

Cash is preferable of course! Best offer before Xmas flatbeds her away…..Thx!
