RaceWagn: 1990 Buick Estate 383/409HP Sleeper – SOLD!
December 15th Update – We loved this unique 383-powered ’90 Buick Estate the moment we came across it, so we’re not surprised the seller/builder deleted their ad just one week after posting it. Consequently, we’re now calling this sleeper “Sold!”
Most RAD Era (1980-1999) haul the goods adequately. This 1990 Buick Estate Nine Passenger wagon originally listed in December 2020 on Craigslist in Broadalbin, New York (Albany) has the goods in the form of a 409 horsepower Blueprint Engines crate motor! Considering the original 307 cubic inch V8 this car originally came equipped with barely produced 140 net horsepower when new, we can’t even imagine how fun this sleeper must be with four times the grunt over the stock power train. Bonus points to the seller/builder for keeping the patina’d exterior as-is for maximum sleeper status!
The send owner and builder is asking $6,500 for his creation. The Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms that ask for a stock example falls between the #3 “Good” estimate of $5,575 and the #2 “Very Good” appraisal of $9,250. In other words, you’re buying a built powertrain that happens to come in a full-size, body-on-frame classic station wagon.
If you’re not familiar with crate engines, check out this YouTube video produced by the company that built this Buick’s engine:
Here’s the seller’s description:
“Looking to sell my 1990 Buick Estate Wagon. I purchased this car 5 years ago in Hartford CT from the original owner. Drove it for a few years and decided to build a sleeper out if it. Body has 143k on it, drivetrain has roughly 1500 miles on it. Frame and floors are rust free, body has surface rust as you can see in the pictures but you can call it patina if you want. Current set up is a turn key BluePrint 383 Stroker with the Roller cam upgrade. Engine is Dyno’d at 409hp, sheet is in the pictures. Blue Monkey Performance 200r trans with 2500 stall converter. Custom driveshaft leading to a 3:10 posi rear. Other stuff including custom duel exhaust, rear air bags, serpentine belt set up, electric cooling fans, Keystone wheels with BF Goodrich tires, tow hitch have all been added. Has new brakes all the way around, new front calipers recently. There isn’t an inch of the 19ft car that i don’t know so if you have any questions ask. I have receipts for just about everything I’ve done. Asking 6500obo, the engine and trans alone cost my more than I’m asking. if you’re a serious buyer then i may work with you on the price but Don’t waste my time or yours. No trades.
