December 13th Update – Just days after we featured this survivor quality mid-fifties Buick, the seller decided to drop the price by $1,500 from $21,000 to $19,500. We have a feeling that now that the caretaker of the past twelve years decided to let this Buick go, they now want it gone quickly.

Portholes, Sweepspears, and four-door pillarless hardtop styling all come together to form this mid-century modern masterpiece known otherwise as the 1956 Buick Century.  The survivor example was last listed in December 2020 on Craigslist in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, with extensive original documentation an asking price of $21,000.  The Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the ask falls between this guide’s current #2 “Very Good” estimate of $20,800 and its #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $31,875.

Here’s the seller’s description:

“56 Buick Century 4 Dr. Ht. , ( no post ) , a very nice original survivor , all Black , with a black and white int. … a 322 Nailhead V-8 , Automatic , Power Steering Car , Just tuned up and oil changed , I have the original dealer ownership card from Salem Buick sold to Lakeshore driver in Salem in 1956 , I have had 12 years of dependable fun with this car , and believe I,m the 3rd owner , it’s been to Lake George N.Y. 3 times and is driven and maintained regularly , Just a Clean Solid Dependable Survivor … $ 21,500 , O.B.O. Cash Only , Please , No text and No dealers, as I do not need help selling this car, Thank You for Reading … note : She also comes with a pickup truck full of extra parts which I can deliver for you …”
