Ziebart: 1974 Ford LTD 34.5K Mile Sedan – SOLD!

Dec 2020 | Classifinds, Malaise Monday

January 24, 2021 Update – we just confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

December 11th Update – We confirmed the private seller of this Ziebarted Ford LTD just lowered their asking price to $5,450.

Growing up in Western New York as a young car enthusiast, you quickly learned the holy grail of potential prime used cars was the little yellow sticker shown on the back bumper of this 34.5K mile survivor 1974 Ford LTD Brougham sedan originally listed in December 2020 on Craigslist in the south hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for $5,900. That little sticker indicates this humble Ford sedan received the extensive Ziebart rust-proofing process when new. Not only did the process add several hundred dollars to the price of your new car, but it also gave the appliers permission to drill holes throughout your new car to apply the coating.  The combination of that process combined with this car being stored for many years makes it one of the few remaining survivors of what was once a very common sight on American roads.

The Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the ask falls nicely between this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $4,200 and the #2 “Very Good” appraisal of $6,300.

Here’s the seller’s description:

“Up for sale is a 1974 FORD LTD BROUGHAM. A few years ago, I bought this LTD from an estate auction. It had been parked in a garage since 1994, and had not been driven since.

About 18 months ago, I had an experienced Ford mechanic go over the entire vehicle. He replaced all of the maintenance parts, including brakes, rotors, tires, hoses, plugs, points, wires, and the like. He also replaced the fuel tank due to a small leak. Otherwise, the LTD is original, and the 400 ci engine (the best one offered in that model) is a good and strong runner.

The car was treated with Zeibart when new, so there is virtually no rust of any sort. The body is absolutely solid, and the undercarriage is clean and dry. The exterior paint is in very nice shape, and shows only a few blemishes. All of the chrome is also in very good condition.

The interior is all original, down to the carpet, and shows no wear or tear – it is almost flawless.

This is not a show car but it is a great original example of the LTD Brougham.

I’m asking $5,900 but am somewhat negotiable for a quick CASH deal. I might also be open for a trade involving vehicles like a Jaguar, Mercedes, Lexus and the like. Interested parties please send an email with your name and telephone number and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for looking!
